Meet Shannon Eastman

Creator of Moody Cow, Author of the Moody Cow Series

Accent Canadian, Passport Irish, and today I get to call Waterford, Ireland home. My adventures have taken me from Canada to Ireland, the UK, the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and at this point most of Europe.

The areas of Mental Health and Human Behaviour have been of great interest to me for as long as I can remember. I attribute this to a very challenging early family life and an ever-present curiosity as to why people do what they do, which over time informed the more personal question - why do I do what I do.

Since the age of sixteen, when I secured my High School Diploma, Irish passport, and left Canada, my life’s passion has been the pursuit of personal and professional development.

For well over a decade, this largely consisted of personal healing through self- and group-work and the guidance of trusted mentors.

I am an avid reader and researcher; and the area of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) is of particular interest. Authors, and specialists in this area, such as Pete Walker (C-PTSD), Bessel van der Kolk (PTSD), Pete Burgess (Polyvagal Theory), Bruce Lipton (Biology of Belief) and Gabor Mate (Addiction) have been particularly influential in shaping my views and aiding my own personal development. I have also studied Carl Jung and have a 2-year Jungian Psychology Diploma obtained in 2019 from Ireland’s Jung Society led by Dr. Jasbinder Garnermann.

After more than 20 years running my own business, in 2023, I shifted my trajectory into Academia as I set out to secure my PhD in the area of Childhood Trauma in Business. An area of enormous personal interest to me, and one I believe is accountable for a large portion of the challenges businesses face in the area of recruitment, culture, productivity, sales and innovation.

I will be documenting and sharing me learnings on the Moody Cow podcast and blog, and delivering programs, training and workshops to enable business to perform better, over at NB3.io

How it all began...

Moody Cow began as a fun art project as a pause between work projects March 2023. It combined all of my favourite things; art, research, learning new skills, and making information I have personally consumed, applied and benefitted from over the years, easily available.

I rolled out the first 15 books on Amazon, set up this website to house them all while working out all the kinks that come with publishing, ISBNs, and well, the new world of Amazon print on demand and drop shipping. Physical books are currently only available through Amazon.

Finally, I'll add this; the series of books are really not just colouring books. The Colouring Books have been used as a vehicle to facilitate micro learning, timely reminders and inspiration.

A more chilled out, light hearted way to improve your mood.

As for the name Moody Cow - it's a fun, kind, tongue in cheek term that I would use to describe myself. My own personal struggle, running my own business, with childhood trauma, would have undoubtedly made me show up as a moody cow from time to time. The name felt like a light hearted way to explore content that can feel quite heavy at times.
